Cooking Classes for Kids? Sort of……

It’s the holiday season, and I have been itching to do a gingerbread house activity with my kids. However, I haven’t been able to get it together to get a kit or make one myself. Then a friend reminded me that Chef Central has all sorts of cooking activities for kids.

Chef Central looks like the foodie’s version of heaven. They have two stores–in Paramus, NJ and Hartsdale, NY– and carry all sorts of cooking gadgets, ingredients, and books. They also have a huge in-store kitchen for classes and demonstrations. While the prices for their materials are not cheap, they did have gingerbread classes for kids for only $20. All I had to do was go to their webpage (www.chefcentral.com) to look at the schedule and register.

Obviously making the gingerbread house myself would be the cheapest option, followed by buying the kit and doing it at home. But registering for a class was the simplest option since it made me commit to going. We also ended up with a decent gingerbread house to display–not to mention a proud and happy kid.
